We all knew Trials Evolution was going to be popular. Little did we know (or Ubisoft for that matter) that it would be THIS popular causing the servers to crash. When over 100,000 players rushed in to post their high scores, created tracks and replays to leaderboards all at once it became too much.
“The stress on the leaderboard servers became extremely severe late last evening,” RedLynx commented.
With Trials Evolution relying heavily on leaderboards and online interaction this can cause a problem.
“For a while, the leaderboards were in read-only mode, then couldn’t be read at all. Microsoft worked quickly to deploy more hardware and the situation seems to have stabilised,” they added. “We apologise for the inconvenience, and obviously we’re working closely with Microsoft’s backend team to improve the situation and prevent this sort of thing from happening again.”
I got a chance to download and play the game last night and have to say I’m addicted. We’re also playing it in our 24 hour gaming marathon tomorrow so be sure to check it out here.
