Seems to make sense considering the two feature the same options
Will there be a Tekken 7 or will we see a third Tekken Tag Tournament in the future? Well according to series producer Katsuhiro Harada it looks like the two could become the same.
“It’s hard to say at this point, but it could be the case,” he told SPOnG at Gamescom. “For Tekken Tag Tournament 2, even though the name says Tag, you can play one-on-one [as you can in the traditional Tekken games] and you can play two-on-one,” he continued, “so it is already kind of merged into this one game.
“It could be the case that this setup will be the standard [for our games] in the future. It will be hard to say until the game comes out.”
TTT 2 seems to be the ultimate Tekken… with huge amount of content in the game and now also the stat tracking and community elements on the web… it seems to be a conclusion to all that has come before. When the time comes to make new Tekken, I would hope that it would be a new beginning with a new fight engine and more new characters than old. A reboot like that is overdue in my opinion. But first, Namco can tell us whether they are still working on Tekken x Street Fighter.
