What Were Japans Top Selling Games Of 2012?

Enterbrain has released a list of the top-selling console games and systems in Japan last year. Mario & Nintendo Continue To Dominate Japan

Nintendo are smiling this week as once more they continue to dominate Japan with the top ten titles in this week’s software chart all found on Nintendo platforms. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is leader with just under 150,000 more copies sold. At the current rate of sales it will have broken the million mark by this time next week.

Nintendo 3DS XL Sells Nearly 200,000 In Japan

According to official retail estimates, in just two days Nintendo has sold nearly 200,000 units of its new 3DS XL handheld across Japan. The console went on sale July 28th and has reportedly sold an estimated 193,000 units domestically. For comparison sake, in November 2009 Nintendo sold roughly 100,000 DSi XL units during the handheld’s first two days a launch

Pokemon Still Top In Japan

Pokemon remained king as it dominated the Japanese charts once more last week selling another 416,850 copies. This takes the overall total to 2,035,471. Meanwhile the PS3 saw two HD Collections making an appearance in the form of Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid. They managed sixth and eighth respectively. Raccoon City Takes Top Spot In Japan

It was a good week for CAPCOM who managed to sell over 250,000 copies of Raccoon City for the PS3 in Japan. The Xbox version saw just 16,000. It may not have been well received by critics, but that hasn’t stopped it making quite an impressive showing worldwide. Mario Party 9 too had a decent start selling over 150,000 copies.

Kingdom Hearts Help 3DS Sales Rise In Japan

Vita Sales Up In Japan… Slightly
