Sony Confirms PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Published on April 27, 2012 by

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Nintendo must be blushing immensely after seeing the clearly Smash Bros inspired PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. It was rumoured for months but now Sony have officially announced its existence and as assumed it looks just like Smash Bros.

The game is a four-player, 2D brawler from new developer SuperBot Entertainment who’ve been handpicked especially for All-Stars. Their CVs combined show an impressive selection of titles including UFC, WWE, Gears of War, Mortal Kombat and God of War. In similar fashion to Smash Bros fighters will beat each other to a pulp on a number of stages each taking inspiration from two PlayStation series. Looking at screenshots its also worth noting that a health bar will be used as opposed to Nintendo’s percentage counter.

Characters are also equipped with three special types of move each one more powerful than the last. Sweet Tooth for example straps himself into a huge mech suit. Roster is still being kept quiet but six fighters have been revealed so far. Sweet Tooth, Fat Princess, Kratos, Sly Cooper, Colonel Radec and Parappa the Rapper start things off and I’m sure you can hazard a guess as to some more guest appearances sure to make the cut. Nathan Drake etc…

“We love playing them and we love making them. With PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, we set out to make an experience accessible enough for all PlayStation fans to enjoy while also creating something deep enough for the serious fighting game aficionado. We think this ‘accessible yet deep’ strategy is the perfect way to bring PlayStation fans of all stripes together.” game director Omar Kendall said.

“PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale existed as an idea in the hearts of gamers way before SuperBot got around to making it, and the expectations of the fans are really what drive us. This game is a labor of love, and we’re excited to be able to finally show it.”

Really can’t wait for this. From things i have heard about it from people who have played it, its like smash Bros but if you go into it thinking this is going to be exactley like smash bros you will get killed really easily.
