Sonic Adventure 2 Officially Confirmed

This could be the start of SEGA’s new downloadable focus

SEGA officially announced Sonic Adventure 2 is coming to PSN and XBLA later this year at its Sonic Boom community fan-fest event during San Diego Comic-Con. The game was shown off in a hilarious teaser trailer highlighting the company’s poor track record when it comes to keeping titles a secret.

Sonic Adventure 2 was originally released on the SEGA Dreamcast in 2001 and is one of the most highly viewed titles for the console. It saw the first appearance of Sonic’s  arch rival Shadow as well as Rogue the bat. The game will support high definition graphics, trophy/achievement support, and leaderboards.

Although no specific release date was given, the game was accidentally listed on Xbox.com back in June with a release of October 3rd so it’s probably a safe bet to expect it then or around then. The listing also mentioned DLC in some form.
