Activision have today announced a follow up to last year’s surprise hit Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure called Skylanders Giants. Children (and me) are likely to be jumping for joy while parents will groan at the thought of spending more on the expensive series for their kids.
The game will introduce over 20 new figures, eight of which are more than twice the size of the main Skylanders cast in both physical and virtual form. These are the Giants and feature a new light technology within that means they light up when near or on the Portal of Power. These have in-game benefits. Eight new regular sized Skylanders will also be released too and you can probably expect some more level and item figures as well.
Owners of the old Skylanders need not worry as all the characters from the previous game will work with the sequel, complete with levels and powers.
You can expect to see a full fledged story, new arenas, more options in Battle Mode, better Elemental Zones and new Character Challenges. Sounds pretty good so far.

One of the new Skylanders set to make his debut
“Skylanders Giants marks the evolution of this core concept. We’ve got super-sized figures, remarkably cool new characters that light up, as if by magic, and more ways to play and explore Skylands than ever before.”said Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg.
The game is due for release this Autumn with platforms yet to be announced. If the last game is anything to go by though, we can probably expect to see it appear on Xbox 360, PS3, 3DS, PC and Wii. Who knows maybe the Wii U or Vita might see their own versions too?
