SEGA has just confirmed that Joe Musashi of the Shinobi series will be a playable character complete with a vehicle sporting a slick black paint job, stylish shape and cool sound effects. Joining other newcomers such as Vyse from Skies of Arcadia Legends and Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe you can really tells SEGA are reaching out in terms of history for this sequel.
Also revealed as well were two new tracks. The first titled Adder’s Lair which uses the gruesome skeleton from Golden Axe’s character select screen in an actual race track. The other stage is based on Jet Set Radio’s Tokyo including an epic battle between the Rudies and the police that plays out in the background. So far we know of a track based on Monkey Ball as well as the classic Panzer Dragoon series with more to come as we approach the game’s release. I think it’s a pretty safe bet to assume a Sonic course will make an appearance too…
If there’s one thing the last game lacked, it was track variety. Having nine circuits from the Sonic franchise was simply too many and with environments seeing three separate tracks in each, it got to the point where they sort of blended into one. Worry not though, as it has been confirmed by SEGA senior producer Gwilym Hughes that every track will be a different IP. Great news.
SEGA & All-Stars Racing Transformed may have a stupid name. It may even have some similarities to Mario Kart. However when the game looks this fun and offers so much fan service, you begin to think that maybe the plumber should be worried, as this looks like it may overtake the latest 3DS version. Expect more at E3.
