Sequel to Skylanders On The Way?

Published on January 25, 2012 by

I’m still busy trying to find and collect the remaining Skylanders (currently I’m at around twenty of them right now) but it seems Activision may be already working away on a sequel to the surprise hit of last year.

Website Fusible has uncovered that MarkMonitor (a well known brand and domain management service) has recently registered a bunch of rather interesting web addresses:

  • http://whois.domaintools.com/skylandersgiants.dk
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/skylandersgiants.it
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/skylandersgiants.net
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/skylandersgiantsgame.com
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/skylandersgiantsgame.net
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/theskylandersgiants.com
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/theskylandersgiants.net
  • http://whois.domaintools.com/skylandersgiants.fr

Judging by the domain names alone it’s probably a good guess to say the next title may be called ‘Skylanders Giants.’ Activision is not listed in the registration data, but they have used Mark Monitor many times in the past (including for the original game.)

Furthermore a Twitter account has been seen titled @skylandersgiant posting updates since mid January including ‘February will bring Kaos to New York!’ For those that didn’t know, Toy Fair kicks off on February 12th in New York so perhaps this may be the place for Skylanders Giants to make an appearance? It is unknown if this is an official Activision account or someone just having some fun.

Could the name 'giants' mean bigger figures in the future?

Of course this is all just speculation, but the signs are pointing toward some sort of continuation of the series. Plus Activision would be crazy not to capitalise on the huge popularity of the game and it’s figures.
