Shenmue fans are perhaps the most loyal of all gaming fans clinging on to every piece of evidence that may suggest a new entry in the series is on the way. We should know as our very own Steve Harradence is one of those committed followers. So you can imagine his squeal of joy when he heard this piece of news.
While it is by no means a confirmation, SEGA Brand Manager Ben Harborne has teased that a HD makeover may be on the cards.
In an interview with GameReactor Ben Harborne, was asked about fan feedback on other Dreamcast titles that might be wanted for a HD release. “I can tell you what’ll be: Shenmue. That, and Skies of Arcadia,” he said, before implying that SEGA may already be preparing something in the pipeline.
“They’re a couple of our most requested games. I can’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no’, but we may be working on them.” he finished.
SEGA’s Jet Set Radio is the next Dreamcast favourite to get the HD makeover with a release set for summer time. Will Shenmue in fact be next?
