Resident Evil Takes Top Spot In Japan

Published on February 9, 2012 by

Big titles SoulCalibur V and Dragon Age 2 made their debut over in Japan last week to less than stellar sales. The Playstation 3 version of Soul Calibur debuted at number two selling 40,000 less copies than the forth iteration did back in 2008. Dragon Age meanwhile made it to number ten. In an odd surprise it turned out last week’s number two title was in fact now first. Resident Evil: Revelations has performed well over here and in Japan with the US getting their copies around about now. We’ll see if the success continues over there.

  1. Resident Evil: Revelations (Capcom, 3DS): 43,575 (Life to date: 190,134)

The hardware chart offered no new surprises with the 3DS selling a good amount more than it’s nearest competitor, the PS3. The Vita while selling more than the PSP still delivered a low 17, 141. Seems the console needs a AAA title. And fast. Nearly all consoles however saw a small dip in sales last week.

  2. PlayStation 3: 23,293 (22,924)
