Raccoon City Takes Top Spot In Japan

Published on May 2, 2012 by

It was a good week for CAPCOM who managed to sell over 250,000 copies of Raccoon City for the PS3 in Japan. The Xbox version saw just 16,000. It may not have been well received by critics, but that hasn’t stopped it making quite an impressive showing worldwide. Mario Party 9 too had a decent start selling over 150,000 copies. Last weeks number one Fire Emblem dropped to three but still reached 60,000 sales perhaps due to the continuous DLC that Nintendo is releasing post release. Surge Concerto Ciel nosurge, a Vita title (and the only one in the top twenty) also saw a place in the top five.

The Resident Evil brand is still stong in Japan

Hardware-wise it was pretty much business as usual with the 3DS claiming top spot selling 74,282 despite being the only console to sell less than last week. The Vita managed to break the 10,000 mark once more selling a lowly 12,299. Seems gamers still prefer their PSP at the moment.
