Gaming research analyst Michael Pachter doesn’t appear to be gaining any Nintendo fans as friends these days as he once again bashes them in a recent episode of GameTrailers’ Bonus Round. In the episode host Geoff Keighley and a number of guests from the industry make their Wii U predictions and discuss new IPs.
On the topic of the upcoming console, Pachter made a comment that may upset a few Nintendo fans yet again, saying they’ll buy anything. Pachter initially stated he believed Nintendo fans will buy the Wii U no matter what but wasn’t done there as he explains below:
I don’t think Nintendo fans are so stupid they would buy a piece of cardboard. A box on the other hand, that says Nintendo on it, they probably would. Do you remember when you were a kid and you get gifts, and when you’re really little you like the box better than the gift? That’s how I think of Nintendo fanboys.
To which Geoff simply replied “Wow”. Wow indeed. Strong words coming from the analyst and one that will likely stir things amongst the Nintendo community. Do you agree though? Are Nintendo fans happy with whatever the company releases? In my opinion the Wii U is looking like a promising new system and something worth checking out.

I think this just highlights his real appeal to journalists, or at least editors/publishers, and his major worth. Not a valuable insight into gaming, but he his knack of saying the kind of thing that generates pages hits. So he is quoted far and wide, in turn his profile is raised and, to an extent, his marketability with it.
The tactics have been transparent for some time. Depressingly, I’m well aware that my taking the time to comment simply plays into the hands of his cheap “shock-jock” strategy…
hes a fool
LOL that is actually kind of funny. Hahahahahaa
Sorry to my fellow Nintendo fans.
lolz at his comment.
i don’t like Nintendo fanboys anyway…lol
