Seems Nintendo fans over in the States are not happy with the releases (or lack there of) for the 3DS Virtual Console. With Japan getting plenty of releases it seems including the awesome Wario Land series its left Europe and more so America in the dark. A gamer from the US actually emailed Nintendo customer service to try and find out what’s happening with the lack of releases. Here’s the response they got:
Thanks for letting us know your feelings about the amount of virtual content on the Nintendo eShop. Unfortunately, we do not have any information about why there have not been as many Game Boy Virtual Console downloads recently. We average about ten new titles per month between the online shops between the Wii, Nintendo DSi, and Nintendo 3DS. This means that there may be weeks where only one new downloadable game per system is released.
That said, I’m happy to forward your comments to the appropriate people so that your feedback will be heard. I want to assure you that we take all feedback into consideration.
Sincerely,
Alex Schuster
Nintendo of America Inc.
While it could be argued that you would need to be asking someone higher up, its worrying overall to know that even with all these great classic retro titles Nintendo are sitting on for GameBoy, GameBoy Color and NES, the company is still very quiet about it all drip feeding its fans with the goods. Come to think of it we haven’t even seen a new 3D Classics game since January!
Just as a reference here’s a quick rundown of releases by region:
- America has seen just 28 GameBoy titles, 3 official NES releases and just 2 GameBoy Color.
- Europe fares better with 32 GameBoy titles, 4 official NES releases and 4 GameBoy Color.
- Japan however has seen 46 GameBoy, 5 official NES releases and a massive 7 GameBoy Color titles.

I wonder why the Brass at Nintendo are coming out with so few titles. I mean if I were them I’d be pushing out as many classic hit titles as possible on each system. I mean look at the Wii. So many good titles could still be on there (I still have yet to see Conkers Bad Fur Day)
It would make sense for them at least to put out a 3D release of The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask.
I’m certain they should be seeing that they would make more money if they decided to give there fans more options for the Nintendo eShop.
