CAPCOM have already spoiled us with not one but two Resident Evil titles on the 3DS and what’s even more impressive, is that it’s been within the space of the console’s first year. That may not be the end of things however, as series producer Masachika Kawata has stated in an interview with IGN that he’s definitely interested in bringing more entries to the 3DS in the future.
Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D was released in July last year and gave a nice demonstration of what CAPCOM could do with the handheld. It wasn’t until Revelations made it’s debut in January that we really saw the quality the series is known for however.
Kawata said:
The incredibly positive fan reaction to Revelations has definitely given me motivation to make another 3DS RE title. I have some ideas in mind. However, I have a lot of other projects that need to be taken care of first.
On hearing this it seems like another instalment is some ways off still. However he added:
I must admit, hearing players say how much they enjoyed Revelations does kind of make me want to forget the other projects and get stuck right into making another RE game for fans to enjoy.
After playing the brilliant Revelations the wait for another is going to be a tough one. Still with Operation Raccoon City due out this month and Resident Evil 6 finishing off the year in November, there’s still plenty of zombie goodness to come on home consoles.
