The Monster Hunter series may not be so popular over here in the west, but gamers over in Japan love it. So much so that CAPCOM have brought the Monster series to Osaka’s Universal Studios Japan this year with giant animatronic statues that move with various smoke effects as part of “Monster Hunter Real 2012″.
Rathalos, or Rioreus, as he’s known in Japan is over twenty meters in height. He’s the creature in the picture above and video for those who didn’t know.
Along with these huge beasts, the attraction will feature real-life quests and limited edition extras as well as a village area based on the series. Even the merchandise looks fantastic. Last year, Universal Studios Japan held “Monster Hunter Real 2011″, and if everything goes well it will hold “Monster Hunter Real 2013″ next year too. Who knows what we’ll see then!
The limited event started yesterday and will keep going until September 30th. While getting something like this here is a real stretch, hopefully CAPCOM will at the very least announce Monster Hunter 3G or 4 for a Western launch.
