Just in time for Wimbledon, Mario Tennis Open will be released on 25th May. Nintendo announced during it’s Direct Nintendo video today.

A nice surprise to see a release so close

Besides a short video demonstrating of the title, it was noted that the game will feature local multiplayer (including download play) for up to four people as well as StreetPass and online ranked play. Overall it all looks very impressive and not too dissimilar to Mario Power Tennis on the Gamecube. With the 3DS getting plenty of love from the Direct showing this morning, this was definitely one of the bigger surprises giving 3DS owners a chance to swing away so soon.
