An unverified release schedule posted by gaming site Gameranx states some big titles are on their way this year from Ubisoft.
Ubisoft have constantly hinted that the next title in the Assassin’s Creed series will offer a brand new character from the past and time period as well as conclude the story of current day protagonist Desmond Miles before the series’ doomsday date arrives in real life. That doomsday date is 2012, so we’ll need the concluding instalment this year for them to match up. Interestingly the game is also set for Wii U. We knew an Assassin’s Creed was set for the new console but many thought this might be a spin-off rather than a main entry.
As for Splinter Cell: Retribution, this is the first we’ve heard of the title. Sure we know Ubisoft Toronto have been working on a Splinter Cell for years but until now, no title nor release bracket have been shown.
The Prince of Persia game is also interesting as it seems to be set for just the Wii and 3DS. What could this title be? A brand new adventure?
The final new game is Just Dance Final Party. With a subtitle like that, could Ubisoft be finishing the series for good? Hardly seems like they will considering the popularity of their dancing games.
Games we already knew were due for 2012 also make an appearance.
Again this list has yet to be confirmed, but looking over it, you can’t help but see some plausibility to it all. Whatever the case Ubisoft will likely comment on the situation soon.
