Video game retailer GAME has announced via their Twitter account that they will be no GAMEfest held this year. A representative wrote, “I’m afraid GAMEfest won’t be happening this year but we do have some cool things in the works.” This hardly comes as a surprise especially considering GAME’s recent financial problems.
Last year’s show attracted 30,000 people over the three days, leading the company to announce a 2012 event even before the 2011 show had finished. Big publishers such as Sony, EA and Activision were involved giving gamers in the UK a chance to go hands on with last year’s big releases including Battlefield and Batman: Arkham City.
It’s not all doom and gloom however, as the GAME further added to their Tweet, “By the way – this doesn’t mean it won’t happen next year. *wink*” Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
