It looks like the Final Fantasy XIV site has been given a makeover and relaunched. Along with this, Producer and Director of Final Fantasy XIV Naoki Yoshida had something to say on the official Facebook page too.

“A message from Naoki Yoshida, Producer and Director of FINAL FANTASY XIV”

Greetings everyone!
Naoki Yoshida here, and I’d like to personally welcome you all to the new official FINAL FANTASY XIV Facebook page!

For those of you that have been with us since the beginning, we thank you for your continued support and dedication. For those of you new to FFXIV and MMORPGs in general, we are excited to have you with us, and are looking forward to sharing with you all the great stuff we have planned for the future.

The development team is hard at work creating what we hope will be one of the greatest FINAL FANTASY experiences ever, so stay tuned for more information about the game, new artwork, and other surprises as we draw closer to the relaunch date!

The game was originally released on PC to generally negative reception. Due to criticisms of the game’s quality, Square Enix has reshuffled the development team and completely overhauled the gameplay since. Square Enix announced their intention to relaunch the game as Final Fantasy XIV 2.0. slated for late 2012-early 2013. This mulligan will incorporate a new graphics engine, new server and data structures, revamped interface, redesigned maps, more gameplay variations and content, and new playable sexes of certain races.

More as we hear it.
