Blizzard has announced that PC exclusive Diablo 3 will be released on May 15th.

It's been a long wait, but the moment is finally here!

Blizzard are currently allowing you to pre-purchase your copy on their site. A Collector’s Edition will also be sold in retail stores which will include a copy of the game, a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray/DVD two-disc set, a 208-page Art of Diablo 3 book, the Diablo 3 soundtrack on CD, and a 4 GB USB soulstone (including full versions of Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction) and corresponding Diablo skull base, as well as exclusive in-game content for Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. Phew.

“After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch,” said Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime.

It seems the developers are now just applying the final polish for what Morhaime hopes will be “the ultimate action-RPG experience.” Come May we’ll know if his promise holds true.
