As you can see this screenshot perfectly captures the essence of the racer genre

Codemasters has teased a new screenshot for what is to believed a sequel to GRID on its official Facebook page and it reveals… well very little to be honest. Showing no more than a tarmac road, it’s still been enough to spark excitement from fans of the original.

Last week we revealed that Codemasters had released a teaser trailer for an upcoming project that can be seen here. The video featured a car spinning it’s wheels in slow motion before ending with a date of 8.8.12 and a hashtag of #theracereturns. It seems highly likely his is all pointing toward a GRID sequel and this image of a tarmac road (while very unrevealing) continues to hint toward it too.

We’ll have what will likely be the big reveal later on Wednesday.
