Concerns that the latest entry in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 2 wasn’t selling as well as hoped can now be put to rest.
In a press release issued today, it has been revealed that Black Ops 2 has earned a billion dollars in a day less than it took Modern Warfare 3 to reach the same amount. Furthermore the same PR spouts that that’s two days faster than it took James Cameron’s wandering epic Avatar to get to the same amount.
“The release of Call of Duty has been one of the most significant entertainment events of each of the last six years,” said Bobby, CEO of the company.
The franchise has sold more (in terms of theatrical box office receipts) than the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies, showing that gaming really is the biggest entertainment form ever.
So seems nothing is stopping the Call of Duty train as of yet. Will next year’s entry continue this success?
