DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. yesterday announced a surprise title called Injustice: Gods Among Us, a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studio (responsible for the excellent Mortal Kombat last year).

The game will feature a number of DC superheroes and villains beating the snot out of one another for reasons currently unknown and will also offer a deep original story. Characters currently known are Batman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman with more to come (all sporting costumes in line with the New 52 comics I might add).

The trailer shows off some of the battling including Harley Quinn getting smashed by a car, Flash getting punched so hard he’s launched into space and Solomon Grundy getting fired through several buildings. It definitely looks awesome!

The surprise title is set for release next year on the Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
